The overcast conditions with a stiff SW wind did little to help the 15 riders for the 45Roadclub season opener on the tough Whiston – Castle Ashby course. The two main legs had a speed sapping headwind with only a short section wind assisted through Chadstone. This did little to halt the progress of Paul Hardy who took top place despite having raced the day before in the NCRA event at Naseby and and equally impressive was Jack Patmore a rising star of the 45Roadclub and one to watch out for. Jack showed sheer courage to battle to 2nd as a junior rider. Neil Barford took the last podium spot half a minute down. Steph Russell was the only female rider but none the less set a very credible time on what was her first TT on the day following her first road race in the MK Bowl closed circuit series.
