Whiston Handicap Series Whiston Circuit 11 Miles. 2nd and concluding event of 2. 23rd June 2015<.strong> A shame it was such a low turnout on such a good calm evening. Plenty of riders watching though. Good results with Steve Peel fastest with PB and Ben Elderton taking the series Handicap with a PB also. A PB for Neil Barford one of our small band who do more than their fair share of sign putting out duties, and a PB for Evan Hsu for his first ride of the oourse. It was good to see Pete Greenhalgh out watching again. (Pete was UK National Hillclimb Champion in 1966 on Winnats Pass.) Phil Melling breaks the club 25TT record.......
On the evening of the 16th June 2015, Phil Melling, who says he has decided to focus on TT only now instead of his previousTri activities, broke to previously impressive 25TT club record by Foxy, bringing it in at an very impressive 50:36.
Well done Phil, only another 37 seconds and you will be in the 49:00's. Phil has indicated with this ride he can "retire a happy man", wonder how long he will let this stand!

Richard Miller was a good friend to many people including his mates from 'boys night' at the Artichoke on a Thursday evening who miss him. We wanted to do something which he would have appreciated and so riding around Pitsford Reservoir on a bike for the Warwicks/Northants Air Ambulance Charity followed by a BBQ and a few beers sounded like a good idea. As well as a businessman we knew Richard as an avid cyclist, particularly with Stephen Fehnert – they cycled around the reservoir from Moulton most weekends throughout the year. He was an aviator and fireman at Sywell and held a pilots license.
The event will take place on Sunday 19 July starting at 10.30 a.m. outside the Pitsford Cycle Shop, Pitsford Reservoir. The coffee shop is open there from 10 a.m. if you want a precycle cafine fix. Bikes can be hired from Pitsford Cycles at half their normal price which will be £5 for adults and £3.50 for children (for 2 hours) or you can bring your own.
Entry Fee is £15 for adults and £10 for children. This includes taking part in the event and a BBQ at the Artichoke Pub at Moulton afterwards. Donations can also be made for the charity via https://www.justgiving.com/ChrisFountain2
Riders can go around as many times as they like but from 1 p.m. we will start to adjourn to the Artichoke at Moulton for a few beers and a BBQ.
