Weather was good with light wind and clear bright sun, temp was falling and numbers were good. A good night for a TT and a lot of happy riders.
Thanks to all 27 riders that entered, to the guest "riders" and to the support team. A safe evening for all involved, only 2 "incidents", one rider DNF with a blowout on a rear tub, fortunately only a few hundred meters from the start so not too long a walk back and one got lost! Event was timed to perfection with the last rider in 8 mins before "official" sunset.
Fastest time on the night was 45RC rider Sam Barker with a 22:38, followed by Tony Brown (22:53) and another stella ride from Russell Batchelor (23:23) on his new TT bike.
I also found a black long sleeve jersey, on the grass near to the start, if you have lost it, contact the admin here to arrange it's return.
Well that was a surprise, after some fairly heavy and sharp rainstorms during the afternoon, when we assembled at the start point the sky was blue and the roads rapidly dried. Not a lot of wind and it felt like another good event was in store.
21 riders booked in and some really good results were achieved. Fastest time on the night was by 45RC club riders, Sam Barker, follwed by an impressive ride from ex 45RC club member, Ollie Bates, who has definitely improved a lot since last season. Fastest road bike time on the day was yet another great ride by Daniel Parkes, and the 3 female riders were led home with a PB busting time by Charlotte Redden.
Well done everyone on another busy and safe event, also to Charlotte, Charlie and Mike Berry for the support duties.

The 45 Road Club is not just about racing, it has a long history, almost 60 years, based on Touring and Social Rides....
45 "Club rides" are not "competitive" affairs at all, we leave that for the proper racing events! They are social outings done for general fitness, health and meeting up with other clubs members as well as the 45RC members. Rides normally take place in the mornings on Wednesdays and Fridays, with short/medium distance rides, then the larger and longer main club rides on Sundays. Distances generally depend on the weather and calibre of the riders present, and generally involve a short café break around halfway to refuel!

What a nice evening for a TT. 23 riders thought so, which made it fairly busy on the line for Duncan who was undertaking his first timekeepers role. Some fast times were recorded tonight, with a few PBs and some first time TT'ers.
Fastest time overall was by ex 45RC club member Stu Travis with a great 22:44, followed by another ex 45RC club member, Oli Bates with a very respectable 23:47 and 3rd fastest on the day with an oustanding time by Russell Batchelor with a 24:31 making him the fastest 45RC member on the night. Steve Peel suffered from a driver who decided to make a 3 point turn in front of him and forcing him to a complete stop!
Just a couple of gripes from the "staff", riders need to pay more attention to their number and start time so they are in the line queue ready before their start time please, 2 riders tonight seemed to find this simple task a challenge! It really helps the timekeeper if you would call out your number when you cross the finish line, and please have a working rear light, turned on and ready to go before you get to the start line. Remember a working rear light IS required for these TT's, it's for YOUR own safety.

Results for round 2/23 of the 2016 45RC TT series....
On an evening when the weather turned distinctly unpleasant shortly before the event, and clearly put off a number of potential riders. But, 7 sound souls braved the elements which in the end were not too bad after all! Biggest concerns were the visibility of riders to other vehicles and the number and size of the puddles, especially on the corners. After checking it was cleared to run and away they all went.....and safely they all returned, wiser and damper! George Fox had a stellar ride, passing everyone to appear at the finish as first rider home, very well done Mr. Fox, with a good elapsed time as well!
