The southerly wind direction made the two longest legs a cross wind which didn’t provide the usual “shove” up the Bedford road. Neil Barford was quickest on the day but used deep section wheels and clip on tri bars. Typically on this course such a setup would have 2 minutes advantage so it would have been very close with Rob Weall just edging it on paper! Good to see three ladies and three juniors taking part with impressive times from Cara and Charlie. Youngest rider Louis, having competed the day before in his first road race, finished a credible time to round up a very enjoyable first event of the season.

We have made some big changes for this season, most notably changing the mid week races to Tuesdays from Wednesdays, this will help the road racers within the club to race both the club events and the road races which are normally on Thursdays within the county.
In addition to this we have mixed the calender up in order to give the members a larger variety of racing through the year, instead of large blocks on each course. The demand for more of the Whiston, Chelveston and Salcey courses has reduced the amount that the club uses the A45 course this year with a more even spread on each course.
